Photographs from my first deployment to west Afghanistan.
In the spring of 2012, I was mobilized and deployed to Afghanistan with a small Movement Control Team (MCT) to FOB Shindand for nine months. In my time there I was given an opportunity to fly over the country by helicopter to a remote site to support civilian contractors. In the process I had the opportunity take in so much. It was a humbling view and a humbling experience. You will also see some other photographs captured from my overall time in the country.
Afghanistan is a desolate place with extreme temperatures for each season but filled with a most interesting and peculiar people--a few of which I have met and were incredibly friendly although intermingled with the obvious and existential threat of the Taliban.
There are some additional photographs I will be adding to this album soon.
